I’m not pro-Israel or anything but how is op an idiot? Hamas has long been armed by Iran and Palestinians voted for Hamas (in the last election in 2006). It’s kinda misleading suggesting the Palestinians invaded when Hamas represents only a number of them but I expect everyone involved in the invasion was Palestinian.

the palestinian gov which was voted in by the palestinians

The Palestinian government has not held an election since 2006, when Hamas won a majority, but this sentence implies that the PNA continues to be fairly and democratically elected. It’s not factually incorrect but it’s wildly misleading.

they’re getting beat up now as israel hunts down hamas and hostages

This suggests that it’s justified and acceptable for Israel to be starving, shooting, and bombing non-combatants in their tens of thousands.

Why did Palestinians vote for Hamas?

Because Israel had been ‘occupying’ their country and when civilians protested, Israel shot them dead. Palestinians had their faith in government bombed out of them. Shell shocked, they resorted to Hamas. At least that’s one way of looking at it.

People don’t even know what democracy means in their own countries. They sure as shit aren’t going to know what you mean when you summarize 2006 as “they had an election.”

What the other person said, but also: “Invade” implies they entered Israeli territory and stayed or intended to stay there. This was an attack by a slightly well-armed resistance militia, not an invasion by any stretch of the imagination. “Raid” would be a much morr appropriate way to put it.
