Normally I am not scared of bats. But this truly looks like some lovecraftian horror

Even I, a mod of this community, feel a little intimidated.

See, this is why flying creatures, excluding dragons and related creatures never scare me in horror and sci-fi. You could snap those bones super easily if they came after you. Now, if they are used to spy or they shoot something dangerous at you, that’s different, but if they have to get close to you to attack you, they’re easy targets.

Okay, but in fantasy, there is always the possibility that magic is reinforcing the body and dragons and flying creatures like this, especially the very large ones are often magically enhanced somehow.

Plus in real life we have dinosaurs and pterodactyls and whatnot, which were very large and probably not that fragile, so it wouldn’t be too difficult to envision an alternate planet where dinosaur-like creatures did not die out due to a meteorite striking the planet or anything.

Seeing this, I’m honestly surprised I’ve never seen a skeleton bat as an enemy in a game.

You got a perfectly good boss monster right there.
