I think I left a few party members behind who I was supposed to pick up in Act 1. I don’t have Wyll, the guy flew off the windmill and died.

I’m on the fence whether it’s worth restarting. I might just play the game over again after I finish but that seems like a major commitment. Any advice?

Spoilers: I just got to the Inn in through the mist to give a reference for how far along I am.

Edit for clarity: I thought the windmill guy was a separate party member but it seems like that’s not the case. Doesn’t seem like I’m missing much by not having Wyll in the party so I’m thinking I’ll keep going.

For reference, I’m a little behind you in the game (towards the end of Act 1) and there are 7 companions in my camp (not counting my custom character, non-playable characters, or animals.)

The guy on the windmill is not a companion. So you might just be missing Wyll.

If that’s the case, I’d just keep going, unless you’ve read about Wyll and really want to experience his story or romance. Since you can re-spec characters into any class or just use hirelings, there’s no gameplay advantage to the companions, outside of their storylines. That said, Wyll has just been hanging out at my camp ever since he joined in my game and I’m not super into his story, so I’m biased. Someone else could comment next that he’s their favorite character and you’re missing the best part of the game without him.

Bottom line: there’s no way to experience everything in BG3 in your first playthrough. If you’re having fun, keep going. If you think you’ll have more fun with every available companion, start over. It’s entirely up to you.

Thanks for the detailed response. Seems like I’m just missing Wyll then and it’s not too much of a hindrance to the game. I think I’ll just have to check him out on a second playthrough.

Guy who flew off the windmill isn’t a party member, though he does show up in a few quests.

Yeah, I don’t have this Astarion that everyone e is talking about, or the Gith from the opening scenes. I’m about to exit the Underdark in Act 1, so I think I just totally missed these two.

Oh well, they’re for the second play through then!

As someone who also screwed up on the Gith and doesn’t know how to do spoilers… If you don’t go past the “are you sure you want to advance” prompt, you can still find her somewhere in act 1

I’m not too worried about it. I like Shadowheart, Karlach, and either Wyll or Gale as the 4th, and I play a version of a Dragonborn Paladin that I recently played in a Foundry Descent to Avernus campaign, so I’m having a blast with it!

Astarion is super nice to have for lockpicking/pickpocketing/overall sneaking since he’s a rogue

You can probably still get Astarion. Lae"zel might be donezo depending on how many long rests you’ve taken. They’re both gone for sure once you leave the underdark

Wyll wasn’t on the windmill. That’s an NPC.
