Really tried to get into ONI since it seems like exactly the type of game I would love but I just couldn’t sink my teeth into it. The UI felt like rimworld but with a much more watered down set of possibilities. Any tips for trying to get into it? I feel like I might be expecting the wrong things from this game

Hell Let Loose is definitely worth the try if you’re looking for a squad based WW2 shooter. Doesn’t have the destructible environments of battlefield but it’s super fun and requires a lot more tactical forethought than a lot of shooters I’ve played.
It definitely has a bigger learning curve than BF. The game really forces you to collaborate with your squad, move as a soldier would, and consider your routes through the map. Game has a great community though and I’ve found people are usually more than willing to show newbies the ropes.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•STALKER 2 is Already Profitable One Month After ReleaseEnglish
121·1 year agoI thought it was good and fun but have decided to shelve it for a while to give the devs time to finish it. In its current state it feels similar to playing Fallout 4. I think once A-Live is fully implemented it will be a much more interesting game to play.
I played cyberpunk at release and it left a sour taste in my mouth, to the point that I don’t think I’ll ever replay cyberpunk (even though I understand that the game is largely fixed now). I think by holding off on playing Stalker 2 I’ll get to play something closer to the devs original vision of it without spoiliing the game for myself.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•A school shooting videogame made by the parents of a victim aims to change minds about gun control: 'This is not a scary game, it's an educational game'
231·1 year agoIIRC you never actually have to shoot any of the civilians in that level, but as players we all assumed that you did. IMO that level was the most interesting commentary that has been made in the COD series because it (somewhat sneakily) put the onus onto the player. Most of us just assumed that we needed to gun down the civilians without choice. In my opinion its one of the more poignant moments in the entire series for how it handled such a grim story beat.

Games•Currently downloading The Witcher 3 for the first time. Got any advice for me?English
251·1 year agoIf you have the patience for it, try playing on a much harder difficulty. The medium and low difficulty levels don’t provide the same weight. Many systems in the game are unnecessary at lower difficulty levels but higher difficulty forces you to engage in them to get the extra edge over certain encounters.
Higher difficulties force you to engage in potion brewing, reading up on enemies, and making genuinely tough choices morally in order to keep Geralt alive. Lower difficulties remove all the tension from these systems.
Also as another user mentioned, don’t skip any dialogue and engage in the side quests/contracts as they give a lot of unique flavor and nuance to the world and story.
I really like Kaos and this is a bummer. Really goes to show that I shouldn’t get into any Netflix series until it’s all finished. Guess that one’s on me for thinking they wouldn’t cancel a well received show like this again…
Ticketmaster and Live Nation already fighting dirty on this lawsuit by paying Vox to write this article. Expect a lot more articles like this as they try to sway public opinion for their lawsuit.

Had no idea what to expect going into it. Had only heard that it was a cosmic horror fishing game and decided to give it a try. Ended up loving it!

If you’re playing games that give you a response with your heart rate, them id say that’s probably a bit risky. Would definitely be worth asking your doctor as I am not a medical professional. Could be worth trying some more chill games that don’t produce an adrenaline response like that.

Not The Onion•employees aren't motivated by the idea of making money for shareholdersEnglish
1072·2 years agoThis title is kind of obnoxious. What the Founder adds is that managers and C-Suite need to find other ways to motivate their employees. It’s not the “Nobody wants to work anymore” take that we see a ton of. The article writer has to have realized the ambiguity and kept it to drive engagement.

This is sick as hell
