This is absolutely ridiculous for one team to win this many races in a row.
Let’s be clear. I’m not blaming Red Bull. I’m blaming the rules that let one team be this dominant.
It pisses me off that my wife still insists on paying £32 a month to watch this shit show.
If you’re a real F1 fan you know history is full of this kind of dominance.
So … if you wonder who will win it’s not worth watching.
I like to watch Albon doing well, Alonso doing amazing things, and hoping for Leclerc to get a result, Yuki keeping softs alive with some big guns behind him, while teams frantically try to get the best tactical moves while rain might drop now or in 20 minutes, and you don’t know how much.
Let people enjoy what they enjoy. Seeing Max perform like a machine race after race is super impressive, and if you exclude him the season is super exciting and unpredictable
Well, it’s F1, it’s not a spec series. Sometimes one team really nails it.
And, I would counter; if you’re not enjoying this season you’re not a real F1 fan.
Not all races are pure excitement, but I can’t recall that happening in my 35 years of watching.
Who wins a race is just 10% of the entertainment, for me. If that, and the racing as a whole probably account for 60%. The rest is a fascination for the science and engineering behind the sport. It’s tremendously interesting.
“I don’t like it”, “It hurts F1”, “This is not good for F1” - some of the titles that could describe your attitude towards the situation without attacking anyone else.
I personally watch it only because I watch it for free.
I find this entertaining because where were these people during the multi-YEAR dominance of Hamilton and Mercedes?! Lol
They were revelling in it but now that it’s someone else winning, they can’t handle it!
So true or even worse, “it’s different” when they do it lol not the same hahaha
Plenty of people complained about that as well
Did you also think this when Mercedes was winning every race for years on end?
There’s nobody to blame. The rules are fine. Red Bull just made the best car. Get over it
Newey designed championship F1 cars. 1992: Williams FW14B
1993: Williams FW15C
1994: Williams FW16
1996: Williams FW18
1997: Williams FW19
1998: McLaren MP4/13
2010: Red Bull RB6
2011: Red Bull RB7
2012: Red Bull RB8
2013: Red Bull RB9
2022: Red Bull RB18
I watch F1 for the racing. Which is not just about P1. There are 19 other positions that the drivers can fight and battle for. Plus the strategy, the engineering, the precision of pit stop mechanics etc etc.
There is so much exciting and fascinating aspects about F1. It’s not just about who wins a race or the championship.
Not only that, they have a extremely talented driver as well. It’s the combination right now.
Without context, this sucks. However everything behind first (and often second) is super entertaining. I also wouldn’t care if we saw wheel to wheel racing with Max ultimately winning. The same as with Mercedes for the last decade.
I’m a Williams fan but I respect the hell out of Red Bull and Max. Max simply does not have an off day and Red Bull do what they can to give him the best chance.
Would I love to see someone challenge Max? Of course, but that’s not the reality we live in.
I didn’t even bother to watch the race today. It was clear that Verstappen would win. You can still watch it, if you are kinda fond of high-tech cars and such, but in terms of competition this has become boring.
The only thing that still somehow interesting, is what is happening, behind Verstappen, who isn’t to be seen anyway much, because he’s usually so far ahead that race cameras don’t even track him.
“Still somehow interesting” as a description for what happens behind Max is a pretty massive understatement ;)
You didn’t watch? You missed a fun race!
Defiantly with multiple parts of rain. ton of strategy changes. I loved the action from Alonso.
“In terms of competition” there are 19 other people out there doing interesting things.
I know, they are all struggling and sometimes doing better and sometimes doing worse. But it’s a bit depressing to know that NONE of them has even the slightest chance to beat Verstappen / RedBull (sorry to all RB fans our there). I still do watch it most of the time, and sometimes it is quite interesting, but knowing in advance who will almost certainly win does some damage to a sports event IMHO.
I was watching F1 at periods in the 90s and the early 2000s (Mika Hakkinen), then got bored during Schumachers dominance and came back in 2019/2020. 2021 was a good season with a lot of tension and exciting until the - in my opinion bitter - end. For me, but that’s just my personal opinion, it would be far more interesting, if two or more teams would compete for the world champion title, but this kind of competition does not exist currently, not even for the constructor’s title. The only competition remaining is that for P2, P3 and onwards.
