      As I always tell my friends, there are only two kinds of loved objects: the pristine, and the ruined. The former because you take special care to ensure they’re never harmed; and the latter because you use them so much and in so many circumstances that getting damage is just a slow Tuesday

      Probably wasn’t, but not from skips, but from the needle pressure from a spring keeping it in contact with the record.

      Now I need to go read how they were constructed, I’m curious to see how they designed for bumps.

      Also, cars then floated a lot more, tires had softer sidewalls, and speeds were lower.
