what happened?
Dude sprayed Ilhan Omar with an unknown smelly liquid. Some are speculating it was apple cider vinegar.
Yup. I am losing track of so many unprecedented events…

Some speculate urine. Maybe pig urine. Which. Would show the ignorance of the Muslim faith by the guy.
But also. If urine. …
so Omar is a mother of 3. You think she hasn’t been urinated on?
I’m an aunt and all 3 of my nieces have leaked urine on me at some point while they were in diapers. It happens. It’s not that big of a deal. Washes off.
If it was urine, it wasn’t the offensive horrifying play this man might have thought it would be.
Let’s just be relieved it wasn’t something deadly.
For real, when my twins were little I got covered in pretty much every gross thing those little People McNuggets can produce for one reason or another.
That said, the entire point of the attack seems to have been to say “If you don’t resign, then next time it will be something lethal,” so in a way it doesn’t really matter what it was. The fact that he did it at all was a threat on her life.
Chemical analysis takes a while even with a cooperative law enforcement system - unless he fesses up or it was something really obvious I doubt at this point that anyone knows what was in the syringe.
I’m guessing urine. But they’re holding off on saying so for as long as possible because the worst people in the world are going to do the worst things imaginable knowing that occurred.
apple cider vinegar
Which you could technically call an “acetic acid attack”
Pure acetic acid can cause severe skin and eye damage.
I have my doubts that the dude whose cunning plan was “chuck some shit at her during a town hall” had the wherewithal to get his hands on glacial acetic acid.
If the goal was disfigurement and he had the requisite knowledge to understand chem enough to use a pure acid, acetic would be a shitty choice over just buying drain cleaner. Sulfuric is way better at breaking down organic matter than acetic.
anhydrous acetic acid is a novel substance. It freezes at 62F. It’s a slushie at room temperature
So. Not like corona 2.0? Or super SARs?
2.0?
Somehow I always just assumed they would name it the Dos Equis virus…
Well hell. Now I believe is left on left crime
It would be interesting to know what’s the procedure here. Do they go to ER? What do they test for? There’s shitload of dangerous things. What can and can’t be detected? In what order you do the tests?
