Yeah … never understood why people thought this would work. Bears eat dead things all the time.
Maybe it would work on a defensive/territorial bear by making them think you’re no longer a threat? But a hungry bear is just going to be delighted at the easy meal.
You are increasing your chance of survival.
Bear will fuck you up no matter what if it decides to. It will outrun you, climb faster and higher than you, and there is no fighting it.
Playing dead just in case it’s not currently hungry might just save your life.
A bear that’s not hungry isn’t going to eat you if you play dead, but could attack you if it feels threatened.
On the other hand, if the bear is hungry, it won’t hesitate to munch on you.
