It would be cool if waydroid could be also DE. Especially on Linux mobile.
DE? In what sense? Why u would want this? It now integrates in existing Linux mobile where each android app looks like it different app launching

The point of Waydroid is to ensure Android apps working on a Linux phone. DEs don’t do that.

I always liked the potential of Waydroid… but in practice never used it.
If you actually use it, what do you use it for?
Advanced VPN tools as well as Tor are currently lacking on Linux ARM. So, anything that needs them goes straight into Waydroid.
Advanced? Like beyond Wireguard or OpenVPN?
Yes, things with censorship-resistant protocols like VLESS, Reality, AmneziaWG
Interesting, wondering if those will get upstreamed/folded back into WireGuard if not why not.
AmneziaWG is essentially WireGuard with certain fixes to make it significantly less traceable by modern DPI equipment. These fixes are numerous and regularly updated as part of an arms race with the government.
For most applications Wireguard is used for, like tunneling to your own machine under normal circumstances, there’s no need for those, they add attack surface, incur severe maintenance burden and put political pressure on the project. And as Wireguard serves as an upstream for censorship-resistant protocols, they would be threatened as well.
Now if ony wayland stopped causing issues with my multimonitor setup…
There is also android translation layer but I don’t see any progress in it.
How do you not see the huge progress they make? Just look at all the commits.
Didn’t last commit was over month ago?
And app compatibility didn’t change in a while?
