      Lol!!! I thought this too! But I think they mean that 28,000 acres is what is on fire and it just is West.

      Like the other comment says, I think it should have been written:

      This is the scene in Fruita, Colorado, as the sun sets, with the roughly 28,000 acre Snyder Fire burning to the west.

    How do you know it’s summer in Colorado? The whole western slope is on fire.
