“I’ve never experienced anything like this in my entire life. This just isn’t the Wyoming I knew or thought I knew.”

Dude, the fucking murder of Matthew Shephard happened in Wyoming. Just shut the fuck up. If I was to pick a state I would expect to be filled with homophobic people, Wyoming would be in the top five.

CA, NY, NJ, MA, and VA.

All very progressive compared to the nation written large, but also populous enough that they probably each have more homophobes than Wyoming.

There really are no wrong answers. Except for excluding Texas and Florida.

Texas, Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama. There’s a reason they are neighbors.

Instead of calling it the Bible Belt we should call it the Bigot Belt

Sympathy at the right time and place is how a lot of MAGAs get deconverted.

The key here is the right time and place. Wait for reality to hit them and break them down. They won’t learn until they experience the consequences of their own beliefs. Let them stew in it, and then offer sympathy.

Yes, it’s fun to dogpile on those morons, but if you want to institute real change, offering no sympathy at all does less than nothing.
