Predator that wipes out all their prey and then can’t sustain themselves is one of the most common extinction stories. If you exceed the limits of the ecosystem you’ll just die out, simple as that. Nature doesn’t give a shit how much you think you’re harming it because it’s a mindless convergent system that will always optimise away abnormalities and find an equilibrium, with or without you.
