You can tell a lot about how this person views the world by how they’re utterly convinced that other men will look at their rolex with envy. I kind of pity people stuck in a frame of mind where they think they need flashy, conspicuous consumption to impress people.

For real. Each sentence made me want to throw up in my mouth. This misogyny combined with wealth worship and zero-sum outlook on life is an unforgivable character flaw. What a vapid, worthless existence.

It’s pretty funny, as a person that likes watches, this guy is kinda right that a rolex is analogous to what you were obsessed with in highschool.

But he seems to be ignorant of the fact that watches are objects, girls are people, and highschool kids are dumb. It’s super cringe to be obsessed with something just because of how you think it will make other people feel.

Hey, I like wearing watches, but that’s because I like having the time on my wrist and not have to pull out my phone. And smartwatches can show me my notifications.

      But this… is something else.

They absolutely are, they’re one of the more “acceptable” accessories a guy can really flex with.

Shoes and watches, everyone likes nice shoes/boots and watches.

That’s fair, I’m not a fan of big bulky ones (which is most mens watches) but something nice and slim with a good aesthetic and some shiny bits to catch the light can be a really piece of jewelry on the right occasion.

Before we had smartphones, Casio had a sailing watch that reported the moon phase and local tides, pointed north when I needed it and had a really amazing customizable countdown timer. I couldn’t be happier.

    Now I have a smartphone.

I don’t have a smartwatch but my wife does and likes that it relays her push notices.

IMO, Rolex watches look ugly. So a Rolex wearer either has questionable taste, or they’re only interested in having a status symbol regardless of its inherent qualities. And that’s whack as hell.
