Mayor Zohran Mamdani charged Benjamin Nentayahu with genocide, said he is unwelcome in New York City, and called for his arrest. Two years ago, that would have been unimaginable. Going forward, it should be a litmus test.

I’d say he’s free to express his opinion as he isn’t in charge of arresting him against the will of the admin. The MAGAs do this all the time or I did I get something wrong?

To say someone isn’t welcome in your city is within the range of things a major should be allowed to do imho.

I don’t know what I’d prefer, him rotting 6ft under or rotting behind bars. Knowing the global prison system and the privileges given to rich/well connected people I’d probably want the former tho

Nah, there’s a balance to Mamdani, too extreme and Trump will send Meal Team 6in after him and make some public example of him.

Mamdani is biding his time and building a base at the hopes of a newer, better, less-bought Democrat party by the next election. He can’t do that from a blacksite in chains.

if we ever have another fair election,… if anyone considers what we had as fair.

After seeing the Russian Tails in the numbers for 2016, 2020, and 2024 favoring Trump. It’s for sure feels like we haven’t seen a fair election in over a decade and I currently question our elections and think they are illegitimate. And that’s not even going into the known cheating that happened in Ohio that helped Bush get into office(or the Florida shenanigans from the same election for that matter).

So yeah, I think Trump cheated with Russia’s(and/or Israel’s) and Elon’s help and is an illegitimate President. Though to be fair he was illegitimate after trying to spawn an insurrection, and should have been hanged for High Treason already.

We havent had a fair election in my entire life. Bush straight up stole the election from Gore, and even if theres none of that extreme blatant stealing, everything is rigged so hard in favor of republicans, from voting booth locations, to gerrymandering, to right wing thugs being intimidating, etc etc.

Imagine a world where Al Gore won in 2000, and Bernie Sanders in 2016. Sigh

Can’t change the past though. Might as well wish Jimmy Carter beat Reagan in '81, and JFK and LBJ both served two full terms…

It’s crazy to think how different the world could be if a few evil republicans didn’t ratfuck everything.

Nixon, Reagan, Bush2, and tRump. The sheer amount of the world’s woes that can be laid squarely at the feet of just four people is astounding

It’s not like they didn’t have help. But if it weren’t for those four presidencies, so much shit never would have happened…

Sadly this isn’t some new development after Oct 7, the Nakba was in 1948 and the details we now know of Israeli atrocities from that event are truly horrifying. The Israelis have been brutally terrorizing their neighbors for over 75 years, Bibi is just a natural extension of that campaign of terror. Israel is the most egregious terrorist organization in the world, bar none.

That’s a wild telling of what happened in 1948.

After the Brits left Mandatory Palestine it was basically an existential war for Israel. Israel declares independence and immediately gets invaded by Egypt, Iraq, Transjordan and Syria, supported by the Arab Liberation Army and corps of volunteers from Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Yemen.

After the war Israel extended it’s borders. Some say for security, some say as territorial conquest for more Jews to settle.

This is very much not as one-sided as you make it out to be.

I’m not going to argue anything you said cause it’s factual, it wasn’t one-sided. It is now. Israel has total victory over the Palestinians. A Palestinian state will never exist now, and Israel is still killing them. It’s not a war anymore, It’s a genocide.

The Nakba was, to my understanding, seperate from war and happened in order to clear space and displace Palestinian settlement so that there was effectively room for the Jewish population to now live there, and is a pretty well documented historical example of ethnic cleansing. It was what happened in order to establish the state of israel, and was initially carried out by Zionists and then by the IDF once the IDF was created, if I’m remembering correctly

I think the terms get mixed up sometimes. Israel calls it the war of independence. The displacement was part of “Plan Dalet”. Nakba sometimes refers to the displacement and massacres specifically and sometimes to the whole war.

Don’t get me wrong, war crimes were committed (if that was a thing back in '48 not sure). I just don’t like the characterization that Israel is a terrorist state that terrorizes all its neighbors. This was not one-sided at all.

I mean the city bombings were war crimes after today’s standards. Idk when the Rome statute or Geneva convention were created. Was driving out all the Germans from now Poland a war crime? The death toll was around 400,000 for that.

I’m not a historian idk if that’s just what people did back in the day. Today that would be a war crime.

A war criminal who committed horrific crimes against humanity including genocide belongs behind bars? Really? Wow! Thank you captain obvious. We all know that. But we also know it’s not going to happen. Your entire country is run by criminals who are desperately trying to cover up raping children on a regular basis, by doing more illegal acts, also to enrich themselves, at the cost of others. There’s a whole list of leaders and their regimes that actually belong behind bars after a fair trial, including Netanyahu, Trump and Putin, to name the biggest ones.

Start to recognize the ICC, arrest war criminals and put them on trial.

Saying war criminals actually should belong behind bars doesn’t put them there. Giving them weapons and funding neither.
