The problem with norms are that they are not enforceable and trump and maga showed that you can have all the power if you just don’t follow them.
We can’t pretend like we can go back to a world where good actors will voluntarily follow norms. What is needed is laws with teeth and more importantly punishment for powerful people that break those laws.
The Dems showed during the Biden administration that after 4 years of breaking the law in broad daylight they weren’t going to hold anyone in trumps administration accountable. I don’t hold out a bunch of hope that the same party leadership which continues to signal a business as usual stance is really going to change the next time around.
Gonna be honest the Democratic establishment hasn’t shown itself very trustworthy in that regard.

Of reestablishing ethics norms? Pretty sure the Biden admin didn’t make any progress at all on that front after Trump term 1. No procedural rollbacks, no prosecutions, sanctions, or even stern warnings for all the myriad violations of norms, and a lot of hesitation pursuing even criminal violations.
Voters want consequences, Democratic old-guard seem to want to smoke a peace pipe and forget it ever happened. That’s probably a factor in why progressive candidates are sweeping primaries. People want guillotines, public guillotines, and I’m only half using that phrase metaphorically. Even if the progressives can’t deliver, no one doubts they’ll try.
So your example is that the DNC “haven’t done anything”. The fact that they have had 48 or less senators for over 13 years aside for a moment:

Fun Fact, Biden actually protected more forests in the USA than any past president, restoring and even expanding the countless national parks that Trump stripped protections from.
And whose heads rolled? Who is in prison, who had their assets seized, who got frog marched in an orange jumpsuit? Who was charged with fraud for the COVID loans? In 20 years the Democrats have failed to hold anyone accountable for anything who had more than a million in assets? Yeah, they convicted the Jan. 6th rioters. Funny how easy it is to hold someone accountable when they don’t have money.
I think it’s sick the way the Republicans have scapegoated every demographic they can possibly point a finger at, but I absolutely understand people’s need to have someone held accountable for the endless successions of disasters we have lived through. No one needs a return to “normal”, they need consequences for those who are responsible. And then, we can discuss restoring norms, reinforced with teeth, so the next time someone tries this they lose a hand before the rest of us have to live through their sadism and stupidity.

I’ve stopped arguing with those that say “both sides are bad”, because I’m not so sure myself. However Trump and entrire circus need to be gone.
Probably not, because a whole lot of voters are dumber than dirt and about as patient as toddlers.
If Democrats don’t immediately fix everything the cons did to fucking wreck the place, many of voters will revolt, claim both sides are the same and then proceed to sit out or vote ridiculously (Republican or third party).
The only thing Democrats will be trusted to do is continue Trump’s policies like they did his first term.
