Playing Splatoon Raiders. Unlocked the option to respond people’s call to help. Before any mission, you can request for help, so that random people online can join in and help you clear the level. That was available much earlier but the ability to respond to these call just unlocked at around level 15. So, I tried that, it searched for a bit and then sent me to help someone. The person I was helping was level 50, with other helper (or could be co-op buddy, no idea) at level 49, and me at level 15. I was confused who is going to help who :grinning: It wasn’t bad though, it was one of the level I have already unlocked, but enemy health etc seemed to be higher, probably because we were 3 people compared to when I played solo, and with 2 high level players I cleared it much faster than how I did it alone.

The gameplay loop hasn’t changed, but you keep unlocking more stuff, with the world and your abilities constantly expanding so it’s keeping my interest.

Played more Red Dead Redemption 2. Reached Chapter 4, and nearing 50% of story completion. Each main mission that I do increases the story progression by 1%, which means there should be around 100 missions total, assuming the game actually goes to 100, and not ends somewhere around 80% or so. This is just “Story Progress” so it should go to 100% but who knows.

I am mainly going from mission to mission, while doing any side mission that pops up in my map. Not doing any side activities like hunting etc. Still don’t care about the characters much, but general story isn’t too bad.

Reached the mid point in Star Ocean: First Departure R too, and got a big difficulty spike. The enemies are very strong, even though I can kill most of them easily, there are still many encounters that can easily kill one or two members of the party. Looked up online and it is recommended to grind a bit at this point and level up. Not enjoying that part too much.

Another issue is that there aren’t higher level weapons available yet, there’s a way to upgrade your weapon but you need to learn skills for that, I grinded a bit and got one of my character to learn the skills, but it turns out everyone can only upgrade their own weapons, so everyone will have to learn all those skills. So more grinding. And this seems like a must-have thing cause current highest level weapon I was able to get (from loot, not available to buy yet) had my total damage around 500 (base attack + weapon damage), but upgrading my second best weapon using the skill, it takes my character to 800+ damage, so a big difference.

So, after grinding for a little while I am not feeling like playing this too much. I was enjoying the game and even the combat but just grinding is getting kinda boring.

No Monster Hunter Stories this week.

What about all of you? What have you been playing and/or plan to play?

Finished Vol. 1 of .hack// G.U. Last Recode.

The game stayed quite easy throughout the second half. These volumes are also somewhat short, I’ve done almost everything for a 100% completion within 30 hours. I usually don’t care for completion, but carrying everything over to the second game was suprisingly motivating.

The biggest thing introduced in the second half was a second battle system. It’s not used often, mostly for story boss encounters, but it was quite a fun addition.

Not much progress on the Ace Attorney Trilogy.

Since last time, I’ve only done the Steel Samurai case and it’s not even finished yet.

Been a huge splatoon fan since wiiu and raiders is no different. Super addictive gameplay loop and great fun coop with my wife. Music isn’t as strong as the rest of the series, though. But that’s an insanely high bar

It’s the last weekend before teachers report back to school, so I’m trying to enjoy the end of FFVII R2.

I’ve been playing a lot of Dungeon Clawer on my phone. It’s a claw machine rogue-like where I feel like I’m just turning off my brain for a bit. Maybe it’s time for a new Picross to sharpen me up for school.

I’ve been playing a lot of boardgames at Boardgamearena.com: Formula D, Harmonies, Can’t Stop, and 7 Wonders. I prefer real-time matches, but the site also does play-by-email style games where you get an email when it is your turn.

Ah, end of freedom. Hope you had good vacations.

Ooh, I love play-by-email style of games. Works well where games isn’t too long with hundreds of turns. Going to check it out.

More board games before I go out to see Spider-Man:

We had our framily over to celebrate a kiddo birthday and I got to play three games:

Magical Athlete is a simple roll and move around the track racing game except every wild-looking character has one special power. Those powers interact with each other in a rules-lawyer crunchy kind of way that makes your head hurt for a moment.

Trick to the Future is a trick-taking card game where you have these digital cards that you can alter with your fuel rods (that look like the lines on a digital display). In essence, you are editing your cards as you play them. Put with salt, it was top three game for the day by default.

Golden Goal was a quick two player injury time soccer simulation where you are moving players around and kicking and bending a soccer ball in the hopes you can roll high enough to score. It was about ten minutes of fun, but it was only $10, so I think it’ll earn its place in the games bag.

I’ve got Pokémon Snap and Rayman 2 for the N64 this Friday. I’ll be playing both on the Analogue 3D while taking breaks from Majora’s Mask.

It’s fantastic, at least for me. Never had original hardware from the N64 generation, and I’ve always wanted to collect retro games, and the Analogue 3D has been an easy way to get in.

Games play flawessly, and it has really good CRT filters when playing on a 4K TV. It’s not required, but for me it adds a lot.

Latest updates added save states, which helps in some games, but I prefer to play them as originally intended.

And of course, I’m having A LOT of fun discovering games. That’s been my great gaming experience of this year, discovered Extreme-G and it’s sequel and got into futuristic racing games, beat archaic but interesting games like Mission: Impossible, and strange and unexpected ports like Rainbow Six for the N64.

Huge highlight for Shadowman. I knew about the remake, but I just waited for playing the original N64 cartridge and beat it. I was impressed by it.

Got my first Switch 2 game (Star Fox), now I just need the console. 😆 Should be getting it in a week or two.

    Finished Majogami!

The “post-game” ending was a lot more satisfying. If you play this game make sure to go through the “Encore” chapter and the extra boss. Overall a fine, 7/10 game. Nothing amazing, but I had a good time.

Playing Opus: Echo of Starsong !

A story-focused game with an odd mix of gameplay elements, combining point-and-click adventure with space exploration and resource management. But I think the gameplay parts are rather basic leaving most of the focus on the story, so it’s best to approach this one as a “visual novel with more interactive elements”.

And… the story has been underwhelming so far. Maybe because I’ve seen so much praise for this game before and I came with high hopes, but I’m really getting annoyed on how “static” the main cast is - Jun gets some strong development early on, but after that it doesn’t feel like the characters are changing at all, their behavior (including some very annoying issues) is the same even after several adventures and even a time skip of a few years.

But one thing I’m loving is the worldbuilding. There’s a lot of backstory for the “Thousand Peaks” star system, both in the ancient ruins left by a long-lost ancient civilization and the constant tension between the different groups due to the scars left by a war only a few years back.

I don’t think I have much left on this one, will probably finish it over the weekend.

Oooh, good luck for the console!

Added your notes about Majogami to the game in my wishlist.
