Mike Flanagan is a solid director. I have enjoyed most of the movies and shows he has made so I will definitely be checking this out. It is also a bonus that Carla Gugino, Kate Siegel, and Henry Thomas continue to work with him and will be staring in it.

Agreed! I really enjoyed Oculus, and I’m especially impressed with how well Flanagan has handled adaptations of Stephen King novels (Gerald’s Game and Dr. Sleep).

I think Oculus was the first of his movies I watched and thought it was great. At the time I didn’t know him and didn’t realize/remember until years later that he did it as well.

Just read this quite recently. Really hope it’s a good adaptation because the writing was chilling

Mike flanagan always does great work, but you should temper your expectations for how much of an “adaptation” this will be. Elements of the story will be present for sure but flanagan tends to take a pretty transformative approach to the works he adapts for his shows. Haunting of Hill House is thematically similar in some ways to the novel it’s based on, but shares few narrative similarities.

To be fair fall of the house of usher is a very short and atmospheric story. A movie adaptation would need transformation. I only hope that he is able to capture its miasma.
