For people who may not realize or have experience with the petrochemical industry. Even if you ignore the revenue loss of this which would be obviously significant, there is a real risk with a lot of refineries especially those that use continual processing that they may have never stopped running some of their operating equipment outside of scheduled maintence, and likely never had all of any redundant systems down at the same time.
The act of shutting down these processes is a costly time consuming endeavour that takes planning and thousands of personnel.
The act of restarting these processes is similar.

That’s why the Houthis keep bombing that pipeline. Most of the actual oil is in the east part of the country along the Persian Gulf, so they first need to get it to the Red Sea coast where it can be shipped through the Suez.

But I live in Europe, I don’t need fuel. I can just cycle anywhere I need to go. The american mind literally cannot comprehend using your legs as a primary method of transport.
Even if I wanted to take public transport, I live in a town fairly far from London but even our bus service is fully electric.
How do you get the food you eat? How does society function? How does the economy actually stay afloat?

Fun fact #1: Europe is in general much less dependent on oil prices than the US.
Fun fact #2: Most European countries have much less economic inequality than the US in general, which means that the poor are much less likely to hit desperate levels of poverty before the rich feel it enough to do something about it
Fun fact #3: Most European countries additionally have social safety nets specifically designed to prevent the already struggling from becoming absolutely destitute like you’re describing
Conclusion: While far from unaffected, most of Europe won’t see ANYTHING near what you’re suggesting and you would have known that if you bothered to learn about the differences between different economies and political systems rather than just assume that every country uses the same reverse Robin Hood system as the US.

Time has told. Similar situations have happened many times before, and the effects on European poverty has always been less severe than the US, for the reasons I described.

That’s not how it works at all. The oil extracted in the US doesn’t just go in a giant national pool for all Americans to use from.
It’s sold by the private companies doing the extraction and several layers of middle men before the consumer sees only indirect (if any) benefits from the (private companies of) the country being net exporting.
The US economy is more reliant on oil because those companies as well as car dependency are HUGE factors in how both the macro and the micro functions in the US.

The Russia started cutting supplies of gas and oil in those pipes as a form of weapon, as a part of a project to eventually reign over all of Europe. They also began the military part of that by attacking a country called Ukraine.
I recommend you read about what is going on Ukraine. There is actually a war, and it’s very good to learn about that war’s existence at least now. Better late than never!
Russia did not cut supplies for NS1 until the war.
Also remember NS2 was destroyed by Ukrainians, likely with the blessing of Ukraine and by direction of the USA. And Russia got the blame for it somehow.
Russia is still a cunt country for starting the war, but the idea that Europe would have become ‘too dependent’ on Russia is MAGA speak for both Europe and Russia becoming independent of the USA.
I did not say the Russia cut NS1. (Also, basically everyone in Crimea and occupied Donbas is a Ukrainian citizen. There are people who were 10-year-old in 2014 and are 22-year-old now. They are Ukrainians who have grown under Russian rule. They are very useful for use in various terror attacks because, having grown within the Russian propaganda during the occupation, they have strong anti-Ukrainian sentiments but they still hold the Ukrainian passport, meaning that Ukraine gets blamed for whatever they do.
But anyway, the Russia did cut gas supplies in 2007 and 2009. And it caused people in EU to die.
