Sounds like they didn’t do the minimum required to keep people safe. This was always going to happen one day.
If this is on behalf of the families who lost children, then fine. They deserve justice. However, it’s not immediately clear from the article whether they are part of or will benefit from this investigation. If this is just the Rangers acting on behalf of the State, then it just feels like more authoritarian abuse.
When talking specifically about safety plans and such, then negligence would be a thing to go after.
I stand by what I said. The families deserve justice in whatever form that takes. There’s already mandated safety plans that people are supposed to adopt, and the camp is fully shut down, so unless this is about justice for those families or improving the licensure process, it seems to just be the State trying to feed more people into its prison system.
Harsh punishment or “making an example” has never been an effective deterrent to potential criminals.
I think you misunderstand me. This will fall under strict negligence. There will be a criminal trial and then, based on the evidence generated there, there will be a civil trial with the families suing, possibly together, where huge payouts will happen.
