I’m not sure there’s many changes they can make in-season that will help them this year, they’re kinda stuck. Granted, the vicious combo of the divisional rotation and last year’s record left them with a brutal gauntlet of a schedule this year, but they have underperformed despite that as well. Obviously they need to protect the ball, which is the biggest thing they can do to improve yet this year, IMO. Without the bad turnover ratio they would have beaten at least one of the Bucs or the Eagles, if not both.
I think what we’re seeing is the effects of KOC’s coaching and Kwesi’s whiffs in the draft so far coming home to roost. We knew with the cap hell the team was in this off-season (Spielman’s parting “gift” as GM) and with what we’re going to have to pay to keep JJ, they were going to regress this year, but it need not have been this bad. Kwesi has made poor draft decisions especially on the defense so far, and he’s going to have to make huge improvement on that end this next off season to keep his job past that, IMO, especially when we have so much draft need coming up (a brand new defense, O-line (again) and possibly our QB of the future). He’s also going to have to secure a favorable deal with JJ to keep him amidst all that, so he has his work cut out for him.
As for KOC, he is still young and new to the head coaching job, but he has Brian Flores right there in his coaching staff to learn from. KOC should lean into that and take advantage of the coach mentoring opportunity. He needs to improve in developing game plans, getting his players fully prepared for the next game, and having Plan B options available when that initial plan goes sideways so you’re not standing around for 30 seconds with the clock running in the last minute of the game while you’re drawing up a play. If KOC can’t pick up some pieces of the team’s dignity and win at least a few this year, he may be seriously in the hot seat or even on the chopping block with Flores ready to step in right away.
all that needs to happen is stop turning the ball over. thats the difference between 0-3 and 3-0
