I think for me it’s Harvest Moon Friends of Mineral Town. Even though the triggers can be a bit bugged at times the achievements act as a great way to track progress like character events and your relationship level with people of the town. It’s not super hard to check when dealing with the bachelorettes because their heart level is shown but seeing exact percentages is nice.

They have also incentivised me to play a lot NES games I may not have normally played like Abadox.

I’ve really been enjoying Pokémon Platinum’s set. It’s surprisingly challenging and getting me to engage with mechanics that I never would’ve otherwise, or didn’t even know existed.

I’m really interested in the Professor Oak Challenge subsets for the Pokemon games, but my favourite set I’ve seen was Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories [GBA], since it gives each boss a really good challenge achievement. Things like limiting the attacks you can do, types of attacks you can do, if you can move. It’s really interesting (and difficult!)

It’s got to be the one for Super Mario World. It’s just so nostalgic and brings back so many memories from my childhood. The achievements are really well thought out and add a new level of challenge to the game. I can’t recommend it enough!

Does it encourage you to play in alternative ways? I think there’s some achievement for Super Mario Bros involving only jumping a minimum number of times per level for example.

The Mini Mario vs the World achievements definitely makes you play different, forcing you to dodge certain items and power ups as you play through and beat various parts of the game!

Reminds me of the Communist Mario ROM hack where you die if you get any coins.

I was a big fan of the meme sets for the Mario’s Early Years games and rushing to get into the top 10 before my friends when they dropped. We did it live on our channels and had a voice chat going on. Good times!

Only recently got into this amazing system! Going through a Dragon Warrior/Quest kick, so I’m currently 90% through the third game.

Loving the “out-thereness” of some of them. Like taking the princess to the final boss instead of home. It had some unique dialog that I would have never known about if not for the achievement.
