Highlights:

As prosecutors and lawyers for Donald Trump spar over the former president’s public statements, Trump the candidate keeps saying things that could hurt Trump the defendant’s chances in court.

Some of Trump’s public statements have already gotten him in legal hot water, with a partial gag order issued in a civil business fraud trial that is underway in New York, and a hearing Monday on a broader possible gag order in Trump’s D.C. criminal case.

Lawyers said such public declarations are deeply damaging to his defense, as he regularly appears to admit, on video, to particular elements of the crimes he is accused of committing.

Chutkan has other options besides a gag order with a threat of jail if Trump doesn’t comply. She could summon Trump to court and admonish him directly, subject him to escalating fines with each confirmed violation, or threaten to move up his trial.

Alright, let’s see some of those consequences.

It’s completely preposterous that Trump can keep breaking rules, laws, regulations and court orders with impunity because the entire nation is too fucking scared about what might possibly happen if we held Trump to the same fucking standard as everybody else.

I mean this is a guy that bragged about taking a dementia test. A more reasonable politician would have said something like: “now that that is done we can end the personal attacks and talk about this part of my agenda”. It is entirely expected that this would happen.

I remember he bragged about how the last question was so difficult, but he got it right. Then, I looked up the question and it was something like “what’s today’s date.”

Meanwhile, he’s telling his rally attendees that he’s running against Obama, that Biden will start WW2, and that he beat Obama in 2016. He’s also telling nonsensical stories about driving electric cars into lakes and choosing electrocution over being eaten by crocodiles.

If Trump were a normal guy, his kids would be taking him on a “special car ride” to stay in a “lovely facility” which could take care of him.

Eaten by a shark, actually. It’s one of his major phobias.

I had a client who became largely nonverbal, violent, and seemingly experiencing a persistent psychotic episode, characterized by bizarre behavior such as pooping in a water glass on his nightstand, throwing used depends in one roommate’s clothing hamper while using the other roommate’s closet as a urinal, and of course smearing feces on the walls.

I took him to multiple neurology appointments before his guardian moved him to a skilled nursing facility due to his behavioral issues, but the neurologist was unable to find any answers while the client was still on my caseload. But… this client passed the test trump brags about…

It really baffled me that the client passed with flying colors, but he did. So every time trump brags about passing this test, I just think to myself: “Congratulations! You’ve proved you’re at least on the same level as someone who smears their shit on the walls!”

Generally when on trial it’s best to keep your mouth shut publicly. This doofus is campaigning, and he’s so bad at just following a script, so he goes on insane rants and talks about Hannibal Lecter 's support for him. Running a campaign at the same time as a trial would be challenging for a smart person, but Trump is unable to use his head and keep his mouth shut.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Yet at a Wednesday night rally in Florida, Trump boasted anew about information that he suggested might be classified, and he repeated past claims that he was justified in keeping sensitive documents at his Mar-a-Lago home and private club.

Asked for comment, Trump spokesman Steven Cheung said he and his lawyers “are fighting together — in the courtroom and in the court of public opinion” against what they charge are leaks by the Biden administration and politically motivated prosecutions.

In an interview with NBC’s “Meet The Press” last month, Trump kneecapped a key defense strategy his lawyers have raised in that case — that he was fighting the election results based on advice from attorneys.

On Monday, U.S. District Judge Tanya S. Chutkan — who is overseeing Trump’s pending D.C. election-obstruction trial — will consider a broader gag order to prevent him from intimidating witnesses or tainting the jury pool in that case.

One adviser, who like others spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal strategy, said that the indictments had helped Trump with a political problem: Small-dollar donors were not giving at levels like they had in the past, and some data showed sagging enthusiasm for his candidacy.

One former Trump lawyer said that during the investigation of potential Russian interference in the 2016 election, the president’s attorneys urged him in an Oval Office meeting not to tweet about special counsel Robert S. Mueller III or the probe itself.
