Oregon voters will decide next year whether to implement ranked choice voting for all state and federal elections, according to a new law enacted by the Legislature.

As an Oregonian, I have been campaigning for this, writing reps, senators, and joining in at the Capitol (I live like 10 mins from it) to get this started here. I’m so so happy that we’ll get a chance to vote on it. I’m planning on doing some educational events in the area, like setting up a booth at a farmer’s market to explain it to voters, putting up fliers, etc.

When I first read the headline, I thought it was another voter suppression model. TIL that ranked choice voting is a great thing and hopefully will be introduced in more states.

ranked voting is one of the very few non-violent pathways to restoring democracy across the country.

i wonder how to support this effort in my own state (Utah)?

It’ll be quite the sight to see, if this ever becomes a nation-wide/every state thing. I can imagine a completely different political landscape in 30 years, where Libertarians and Socialists hold office in government. Hopefully better democracy is better for people, and it’ll make the election votes spread into the strangest pie-chart, in the best way possible.
