In my experience, what could actually make it artisan:

        • -uncomfortable stools with no back and at a height that feels just a little too high but not quite right.
        • -menus accessed by qr codes with a smartphones
        • -serving dishes that are actually just pieces of wood (gives that rustic appeal)
        • -a big word cloud on the wall that contains words like “steel-cut”, “locally sourced”, and–why not–“Artisan”
        • -lighting that looks old, often using those nice incandescent filaments that give a warm glow–most likely string lights

Those are just a few ideas off the top of my head. I agree–they aren’t artisan yet but if hipsters have taught me anything, it’s that decorating in a certain way will get you a certain clientele and they will believe it’s artisan.

My takeaway from the Dr. Pepper Museum is that it’s some weird indoctrination shit for school kids about the virtues of the free market and limiting government regulation. It’s fucking weird and you better believe they shoe-horn that shit into every exhibit. It used to be called the Dr. Pepper Museum & Free Enterprise Institute but looks like they may have decided to rebrand since I was there a few years ago. Maybe they realized saying the quiet part outloud in their name was turning people off lol.

What you may not know is that Free Enterprise Education has always been at the heart of our institution as part of our Free Enterprise Institute. From the very beginning, the aim has been to not only collect and display soft drink artifacts, but also to use industry as a model to demonstrate the power of our economic system.

What the fuck 😔 I thought dr pepper was a cool chemist who just wanted to make something interesting for us to drink so we can enjoy our lives a bit more.

Dr. Pepper died in this well. Ever since he died there there’s about one spoon of “Dr. Pepper infused” water per gallon extracted from this well, which is the main reason for the unmistakable taste of Dr. Pepper soda.
