    I know this is a joke, but for safety it bears mentioning: football is just a game and not worth hurting yourself over (even if you’re Mac Jones)

    I have started watching games not as a FanBoy but as a third party. “Look at that great play that player made” (on whatever team). It is making a difference in not being invested emotionally in the outcome AND I can enjoy whoever is doing well in the game itself. It is taking some adjusting but this practice may wind up helping me in other aspects of my life.

      As a non-sports fan, this is how I’ve always watched sports (which is infrequently). Choosing a side never made sense to me. The players on the teams change often, they aren’t usually from the geographical area that the team is homed in. What is there to root for besides the name and colors, especially when people root for a team from a place they’ve never been before? I would rather just appreciate the impressive displays of athleticism, regardless of team membership.
