I have been trying to subscribe to the lemmy.ml asklemmy community at lemmy.ml which has around 21k+ subscribers. however by searching [email protected] it points me to a community with same name but only 6k+ subscribers. Are they actually the same thing? Thanks

    Yeah, it’s the same. Your instance shows the number of subscribers on your instance. The community’s instance shows the global subscriber count, including those on other servers.
