I’m going to tone this a bit down, so I’m thinking :

  • canned pineapple, in juice not sirop
  • cheddar cheese
  • small mozzarela ball instead of marshmallow -shrimp instead of bacon.
  • cheapest mayonnaise I could find.

But you think I should eat this or simply post back a picture of it in the sub?
Should let it sit in the sauce (pinneapple juice + mayo) for a bit or eat it right away?
Is this still considered midwestern food?

I also found an old recipe for “salade américaine” in a cook book. It’s fresh fruits and celeriac with mayo and tabasco.

I don’t think anyone should eat what you’re describing. If you’re going to make it though, we want a video of you eating it and reviewing the taste.

Pineapple plus shrimp sounds horrible. Like three hours later finding yourself head first in the toilet horrible. I suggest you go all out and put the whole thing in aspic.

Don’t worry. I’m planning to taste the association of food before making a giant bowl of this salad. Also, I’m not going to make a bowl of this salad but just a bit to try it out and have a fun culinary (not tasting but culinary) experience.

And if shrimp/pineapple is gross, at least I’m on the right community.

You might consider adding cottage cheese. Definitely no on the marshmallows, i agree.

Good Idea! I think 50/50 cottage cheese and better quality mayo will improve the dish. Unfortunatly I’ve already picked the cheapest mayo of my store, for a more authentic reproduction or Miracle Whip. But if the salad taste ok. I’m going to improve it next time with cottage cheese.

Post a pic, and for the second, can you set part of it aside to let it sit so you could compare and note the Ick or Yum levels?

      Crayfish. Redneck shrimp.

Source: my uncle is a redneck who catches/eats crayfish frequently.

It certain’y isn’t but I’m trying to do a midwest salad “revisité”. I have shrimp, and I don’t eat bacon. I not even from USA. I am not going to try to do something authentic since I’m going to fail at authenticity anyway.
