      Religions should pay taxes regardless of good reasons. They have capital/properties —> they pay taxes. Period.

      Well, they’re still growing corn. It’s just that the church doesn’t pay taxes on the passive income.

        They also buy the land in cash and have zero debt load. They buy all their equipment and supplies in cash as well. So when AgReserves farms it their cost of production is less. They then can underbid large production contracts and actively put other farmers under. Then they buy them up from their massive cash pile.

        The only organization that competes with them is the Hutterites. They take advantage of their decreased costs and cheaper labor to force growers under then buy up their land.
