Essentially title. I now have 8 users listed as banned on my instance, although I have not banned anyone, yet:
@outsittingjay@lemmy.blahaj.zone
@okiloki@feddit.de
@FrantixGE@lemmy.fmhy.ml
@Augusto_Pinochet@feddit.cl
Alchemy
@Kaleidoskop@feddit.de
@Revelator@lemmings.basic-domain.com
@PepeSilvia@lemmy.world
@cl0ud5@latte.isnot.coffee
Is this a bug or feature?
A feature, but I also fail to understand its exact purpose.
There’s also a question of what happens if I unban somebody I hadn’t banned. Does the account get unbanned globally as well?
I read somewhere that this is just an artifact of the “ban” event being propagated, basically as a “FYI”, but essentially meaningless for your instance, because those remote accounts could only log in on their home instance and interact with yours from there anyway.
It’s not ideal that this clutters the list of the banned users on your instance though.
That makes sense, I guess. Also gives hope that it will get sorted out in the future.
