Santa Cruz shredder. I have had mine over a decade, it’s a beast.

      Another vote for this!

The action is really smooth. They feel very well made and work very well.

It’s much better than the typical head shop grinders.

I second this, haven’t had it as long but for several years and it’s still going strong.

Yeah, it also almost never gunks up or has issues. It’s been my go to for three years

I’ve also had mine over a decade! In love with it! Although it’s starting to get squeaky these days, what’s your recommended cleaning routine?

Qtip with 91% or 99% ISO around the inner lip to remove all caked on jank. Soak the mesh in ISO and scrubby with a soft toothbrush. Brand spanking new. Just hit with hot water after ISO to see if still sticky (repeat ISO baths) & remove any residue then let dry. Brand spany new

Grinders for Life, the Brilliant Cut grinder.

It’s a 3 piece grinder (kief catches are pointless unless you want the sleepy aspect, light and air degrades the THC compounds over time) that uses magnets instead of threads.

I have arthritis so unscrewing sticky metal all the time was a no-go. Also a lot of metals make hands smell.

The brilliant cut looks gorgeous, is anodized, and is designed so that even if you stuff the fuck out of it it will still grind and no pieces get left unground and stuck in the center. They are a little pricey considering, but I have cleaned my grinders twice since 2019. They just don’t gunk up, they stay smooth and clean.

I probably was going through a grinder or two every year, I’ve had so many from Amazon ones to sharpstone to space cases. They’re all the same, realistically. The difference lies in how often you need to clean it and how easy it is to use. Of my 2 decades using grinders this is the first time I’ve not been worried about hands smelling, weird textures or metal flaking, or inconsistent grinds and sticky edges.

One thing to note: the color anodized at one point people had been reporting flaking. It also may have just been a temporary issue as I haven’t seen any reports since that ~6 months. I have 2 and use them daily, I wouldn’t say I’m exactly gentle with them and I’ve not had any flaking. If it is a concern though, they have a regular style as well

Nice, you won’t be disappointed honestly. I mean, I can’t do anything about it if you are but I highly doubt you will be!!

Did you go for a specific color or size?

I got a factory second one because I didn’t want to wait 6-8 weeks for delivery, it’s the coarse plate, black/purple/black. All their colors are gorgeous though wow

Hell yeah you do that’s sweet, I was debating the green one but the purple is soooo good.

I love that they do factory seconds, got mine there as well. Orange/Red/Black, looks awesome and was good as new. I think I would have chosen Orange/Green/Black or Orange/Black/Green otherwise but this comes pretty close.

I have had many grinders but the BCG is the best I have used. I have been using it every day for nearly 2 years and it’s still working flawlessly.

Cant second this strongly enough. Have had mine for something over a year now and it hasnt needed cleaning yet. It feels awesome to use every time and all the details are so well thought out, like the magnet part in the crushing chamber has a ridge so no weed gets stuck in between. I think it is the best investment in weed accessories Ive made yet.

I started getting Santa Cruz Shredder’s after trying a few different gimmicky grinders. Stay away from the Kannastor GR8TR multiple of them broke on me and the paint chipped off really quick.

I have a Tsunami grinder that is excellent. It doesn’t get gritty and stiff to turn from kief like most grinders I’ve had.

How much do you grind at a time, and how do you use it?

I got a jumbo 88mm grinder so I can do enough to fill a full tray of Mighty capsules. Would be ridiculous if I just needed 1/4g for a bowl.

Coarse grind, fine grind, threadless closing, kief catcher, stylish design etc. It really depends on what’s most important to you.

I got a Kozo grinder a few years back off Amazon (before I paid more attention to what I consumed in general) and it’s been great so far. All metal, it comes with a kief catcher and a scoop. I think I got it for like $20?

Those plastic cylindrical ones where you can store some buds on top that you can find in any headshop have always treated me right. They work great and their cheap. Have to be replaced occasionally though.

Wakit Electric Herb Grinder -… https://www.amazon.com/dp/B099DS6656

My roommate bought a few different types of electronic grinders and I kept saying they were a gimic, but when he got this one I was right behind and it’s my default now. I haven’t turned a grinder by hand in over a year.

If you like a fine grind kikkerland makes a ceramic herb grinder (presumably for actual herbs since they aren’t really a weed company) that I absolutely love. Doubles as a stash jar too.

you probably got one by now, but as someone with a 3d printer I can recommend making one yourself. you don’t necessarily need a 3d printer for that

I considered that actually, I do have a 3d printer. But ultimately decided that if I shouldn’t put food on 3D printed parts I shouldn’t smoke off it either, and with my existing attitudes about plastic I prefer metal. Maybe one day I can talk the ol lady into letting me find space for a CNC mill 🤔

Those metal card grinders seem durable and easier to clean. My plastic grinder has these spikes that are a real pain in the ass to clean.

Sharpstone is pretty good quality and not overly expensive.

Santa Cruz Shredder is supposedly the best, but it’s a bit pricey imo

Any grinder will work. Go to your local head shop and buy the cheapest one they have. It’ll work just fine
