I just have USB-C to USB-A adapter, for this kind of problems, and the reverse adapter as well.

Technology•Smart glasses are 'an invasion of privacy' - Meta's are selling better than everEnglish
2·3 months agoHow? Somebody can just pretend that they’re doing something on a smartphone, while secretly recording other people. Also there are miniature cameras that you can buy, inside what looks like a pen or USB drive, etc.
Ideally, there would could be a red light when somebody is recording, or more like a legal requirement.

3·3 months agoI think it’s your fault if you don’t have backups… but I legitimately think that we should restrict usage of classic Unix tools to scripts, and use safer tools ourselves… but I guess that’s just my opinion.
I’ve actually seen and helped to operate one of these connected to a tractor. And I must say that these scare me so much, lol.
Why do people insist on using shity OS, is beyond me. Even macOS is far better than Windows nowadays.
From what I understand watching pornography is a more complex issue, and it depends on a number of factors.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Framework says it's selling more Linux laptops than Windows as new Laptop 13 Pro sells out first 7 batches
4·3 months agoIn my opinion both Cinnamon and Plasma are the GOAT, but for new users I think Cinnamon is the best, because from my experience it is trouble-free, and very easy to use, especially for Windows users. I have it on Linux Mint that is installed on one of the family laptops (I use Debian with Plasma myself).

Linux@lemmy.ml•Framework says it's selling more Linux laptops than Windows as new Laptop 13 Pro sells out first 7 batches
1·3 months agoWhat do you mean? I know that Linux Mint is based on Ubuntu LTS these days, that means that it has slightly outdated packages, but for most users that need their computer only for browsing the web and other simple uses, it is fine. You can also install flatpaks.
With Ubuntu I don’t think the problems is that is dated (it literally is updated every 6 months), but how buggy it is. I literally tried it out like a year ago, and simple applications like Settings app, were just crashing on me after installation.
I see a trend of corporations at least trying to deshittify their products a little.
But I have a theory, that there will be a separate app for Shorts, and nobody will use it, unless it will be pre-installed.

Linux works great as long as the regular user doesn’t have root rights. In my opinion if you install Linux on your family’s or friends’ devices, you never give the root rights, unless you want them to eventually break their system, and you will need to be an administrator for their systems.
Okay another option are immutable distros I guess, but you still can fuck them up easily (probably).
