  • Euromaidan was the deposition of Putin’s man in Ukraine, after he tried going against the parliament decision to strengthen EU Ukraine relations.

Yanukovych was a traitor to the country and half a million of Ukrainians protested against him. You talk as if he was removed against the peoples wishes but LPR and DPR being supporters of Putin and Russia are a minority. Their wishes go unheard in a democracy and thats normal. Border minorities trying to grab land for their country is just insane. If they want to live in their mother country, they can just cross the border and done.

Russians living in Ukraine are just a good excuse for the war. Plenty of people would want to separate from their country (Basque independence movement), and no country wants to lose people and territory to separatists so tough situation there.

Putin obviously opposes NATO expansion, it is a defensive pact primarily aimed at defending from Russia (and China now I guess). He obviously wants a buffer between Russia and Nato members, no one wants their enemies close… but annexing Ukraine will only bring him closer to NATO member states.

The point of taking Ukraine was about resources, starting with taking Crimean peninsula which is rich in oil. The rest od Ukraine is grade A farmland which helps feed Europe as a whole. They had to take it before Ukraine joined NATO as that would make invasion practically impossible. Take out a potential enemy and strengthen yourself before WW3 breaks out.

EU as a whole is unprepared for war so Putin has nothing to fear from there, leaving the US, which is pretty far away, and the nukes which have practically global range…

Basically countries fear Russia (for good reason, see Ukraine) and want to join NATO for protection of their sovereignty and Putin doesn’t like that 🤷

I get errors with installing (root install not possible as APK was selected from storage / Non-root install not possible with current patches selection).

So I installed the APK first and patched it then, so root install worked.

Backblaze Personal only works with Windows PC's and Mac, and drives that are physically connected to the computer. No VM's, no network drives/hardlinks/symlinks, etc. You have to use their software to backup too. As someone else noted, for recovery you can grab files in 500GB chunks as a zip, or 8TB drive mailed to you (free of charge up to 5 per year). Data needs to be retained on your local drives otherwise it will delete them from their servers after 30 days unless you upgrade to their 1 year retention plan.

I have a Windows PC that is on 24/7 for a number of things, and I just put a hard drive in there that I backup my most important NAS files to that, and it gets backed up to Backblaze Personal.

Backblaze Personal is cheap and I see the appeal, but you have to understand and live with those caveats for "unlimited" backup.

I use B2 with rclone and just backup “important” stuff on my NAS with cron jobs. I guess you could have rclone move the “important” stuff from NAS to a “burner” PC which uses Backblaze Personal.

I don’t have enough data to warrant all that so I use B2 for now and I have around 50GB of data so the price is cheap
