As an avid league of legends player…

Honestly, not only is league of legends the worst entry to start playing as a newcomer, it’s also one of the worst games to learn about the lore in.

Champions who have never met each other in the lore are constantly facing each other in combat and making quips. Power levels are completely “wrong” - a literal creator dragon gets thoroughly thrashed by random humans with swords. Better introductions follow:

Legends of Runeterra (their online card game) is incredibly new player friendly and you can easily get everything you need without paying a cent. Plus the game massively fleshes out lore - every card represents something from the lore, there’s always a quote or a description when you view the card art, it’s great.

Ruined King was a very good RPG game which did a great job fleshing out the region of Bilgewater and the events leading up to the ruination.

Arcane was a brilliant animated depiction of Piltover/Zaun.

  • Literally, you’re right - in Latin it means “not following”. But in conventional usage, non-sequitur is more for things that are so completely out of place for the conversation.

Not a non-sequitur: “Okay, so based on this finding, [insert something topical but wrong]”.

Non-sequitur: “Okay, so that’s great, but Michigan beating Ohio State means this is irrelevant”.

(edit because I did not realize the formatting I used for my non-sequitur example caused it not to render)
