Just to throw it out there self hosting docker containers you could use your local PC but I started out with 30 dollar 1 litre PCs. I had three 1 hosted my firewall and the other 2 dockers. I had most everything I could need.

I can not agree more. While I will admit my electric range knowledge is limited while my gas range knowledge is pretty high. I bought a house with an electric stove I put some oil in my pan turned the eye on and let it warm while I was cutting veggies or something else it had not been more then maybe 2 minutes and the oil burned to the pan. On gas i have never had that issue. It seems no matter what I do on electric I always burn. I admit it may be my lack of knowledge.

I feel the same way. I use fedora on my laptops and desktops and debian on my servers. Generally my servers do not have or need a gui so debian makes it easy to install without. I tried fedora server once and i just was not happy with it.

To be fair i live in a rural area that has few sidewalks or street lights. If someone is walking along the side of the street in dark clothing it is extremely difficult to see them. I am not justifying not paying attention just clarifying my stance.

Your views on distros follows mine. Fedora is my day to day and debian is my server os of choice.

I too started with slackware but I never mastered it. I moved back and forth between windows and Linux eventually settling into debian. I tried different distros and just never loved them. After a while of using Debian I tried redhat. I liked the ecosystem and have been on it for years. I still use Debian for servers without a wm.

Just a quick question have you verified they are supported on the support matrix? I know various hardware on the surface-linix kernel has varying degrees of success.

Another issue others are not addressing is the memory limitations of 32bit software. I am facing it now with a large database that is stuck in a 32 bit world. You may have issues finding 32 bit builds of software as well.
