Melbourne@aussie.zone•Discussion: anyone else feeling a bit meh about the munnel?
2·5 days agoHaha yeah, the rail duplication followed immediately by the North East link works has been fairly brutal for the outer Hbridgers. But I get more annoyed by frequent track faults and trespassers etc. Can’t plan around those and they happen often enough to leave me with trust issues haha.

Aussie Enviro@aussie.zone•Want to boost uptake of battery EVs? Subsidise chargers at home and work – not the vehicles
2·6 days agoI follow the E-moto and scooter space closely, as I really want to swap the petrol bike for electric. I think the gap is much bigger for 2 wheelers than cars. But agreed I would love to see their uptake increase for the reasons you mentioned. There are also a lot of barriers to entry (outside of electric) for the ordinary person to consider a 2 wheeler.
Samsies. My current workplace doesn’t deserve better, but I am worried it’ll become an ingrained habit.

2·6 days agoIncreased frequency is good, but on the Hurstbridge line I’d take improved reliability.
Technology Connections did a big video on solar misinformation a few weeks back. This was one of his main points. Well worth watching if you haven’t.
https://youtu.be/KtQ9nt2ZeGM If you haven’t watched his stuff before It’s probably not the best introduction and the last 30mins pivots to US politics, but the first section is really solid. I like that his argument is almost solely based in economics and engineering, and not the environment. Because those are the areas where naysayers are constantly saying renewables don’t stack up. He’s directly talking to their economic interests and not trying to pull at their non-existent heart strings.
Welp, wouldn’t recommend you Solidteknics, but I love mine. Heavy and similar to looking after cast iron. And not cheap upfront. Hoping they’ll outlast me tho.
I did when I travelled to Finland in summer and learnt they dont have public drink fountains in parks. I got so fuggin dehydrated that day 😆

Blueberry, fruit loops, funky (Edit: i.e. most Ethiopian naturals 👌)
For reference, this type of cracking is called crazing.
They’re not crazy long, but i really like Car Seat Headrests long songs. 10-15min range.
I was gonna say the intros and interludes in the Modest Mouse Good News album are very short, but hard to call them songs per se. Dig Your Grave is 13 seconds of mumbling ‘something about diggin’ and ‘i hope that youre dead’…
The Beatles song Her Majesty is ~23 seconds and feels like a complete song. Crazy stuff.
Sports clubs and hobby clubs for sure. In Australia we have clubs called Men’s* Sheds that are for things like woodworking, but also a place to talk about mental health - things like loneliness. (*I don’t think they’re all so exclusively Men’s sheds these days).
I play disc golf and that sometime feels like a church haha. Trying tk convince people it’s an awesome sport amd get them to try it feels like trying to convert someone 😂
Definitely have to do your own disturbing moaning back at the dog to assert your dominance. Shouldn’t be too hard given the activity 😆

Happy thank-fuck-that-week’s-over-day-time-hour day… 🍻
Here’s a new choon. Last single before album goes out in 2 weeks (still gotta finish it lol 😅). This track has main-character-energy and a self indulgent guitar solo. Good summer bop. Enjoy! https://on.soundcloud.com/QmO18X2t0URB1ulcZp
As someone who designs little mechanical systems from time to time. Those clips and latches seem super satisfying. Would be fun and challenging to design and make those.
That fret system is very cool and did it seem like they’ll be selling (licensing?) it so other guitar companies/luthiers can build it into their guitars?
I dunno, but driving thru the insanely rich neighbourhoods definitely depresses me out.
