I read a lot of stuff on Lemmy within the last year that was way over the top. I don’t know if it’s because this is the only comment below this post at the time of writing that I feel this way, but I am deeply disgusted. As a German knowing our European history very well, I find your comment very concerning.
Have you spent any time trying to understand the recent events that happened in Amsterdam? It seems like Israelis were the instigators and participating in despicable behavior, according to first-hand reports, but I’m absolutely open to being corrected - this is a developing story, afaik
I’ll admit I find comments blindly defending authoritarian racists advocating for an ongoing genocide deeply concerning, myself.
These are Israeli hooligans. They spent days terrorising the city, attacking buildings and beating up taxi drivers until people were fed up and fought back (because the police didn’t do anything). Now they’re playing the victim.
There’s plenty of Jews in Amsterdam that don’t get attacked on the daily.
That’s not an argument. Not every Israeli is a nazi. You can’t just go around beating up Isrealis because they’re from Israel.
But yeah, it’s disgusting how they’re just constantly hiding behind antisemitism like it’s their get-out-of-jail-free-card
If someone is being violent, I think it’s reasonable to answer that with violence contextually and in the moment. I don’t think it’s reasonable to track the person down later and ambush them.

I’m mostly correcting you. That was not why they got beat up.
Although I never think violence is an appropriate response, it’s hard to find fault in someone that punches a nazi. I hold the same opinion for all pro-genocide groups.
They were ripping down Palestinian flags and picking fights. This is not just a few tourists getting assaulted because they looked Jewish. Reconsider your assumptions
The Dutch hooligans were literally picking up tourists from the street, asking them to show their passports to prove they weren’t Israeli. I’m up for a debate, but reconsider you tone!

I cannot verify if the subtitles in the first video linked are accurate, but if so, it’s really disgusting, especially when they were guarded by cops while screaming the things they screamed.
This doesn’t justify attacks on random israeli tourists if those happened, but also proves it’s not some coordinated antisemitic attack on jews, but rather outrage about behavior of some of them.
Wait is this real? Fucking seriously? Israeli’s trotting around being racist as fuck, but any response is “antisemitism”?

They got beat up because of what they said and their behavior, not because of where they were from.
So that makes it okay? I guess it does, because what is a soccer match without the traditional police interventions, amiright?!
Yeah, it is okay to meet a violent person with their own energy.
