Summary

The Trump campaign’s misogyny, including its support for forced sex and forced pregnancy, was a significant factor in his victory.

His campaign openly promoted a “hierarchical gender order,” attracting voters who endorse his history of degrading women, his role in overturning Roe v. Wade, and his rhetoric of male dominance.

Far-right figures like Nick Fuentes popularized the slogan “Your body, my choice,” which reflects a taunting reversal of pro-choice language, symbolizing both anti-abortion sentiments and threats of sexual violence.

The phrase has spread online and in schools, highlighting the MAGA movement’s shift from puritanical to aggressive, sexually domineering politics aimed at subjugating women.

most Americans voted for a man they have every reason to believe is a rapist.

Minor quibble, but Trump won ~75 million votes by current count. Out of our population of 330 million people (including ineligible voters) that is 22.7%.

So no, most Americans did not vote for him.

…even less Americans could be arsed to vote for a sane person. You can’t blame the backwards electoral vote system this time.

Eeeh, technically. But by the same metric most Americans haven’t voted for a president… maybe ever?

America chose Trump. It’s fucking awful but we’re not going to move forward unless we recognize that problem and work to overcome it.

And yes, the next four years will absolutely fucking suck. There will be extremely shitty things happening in the next four years regardless of what we do now.

I get where you’re coming from but I think semantics matter. American voters chose trump. I think we should avoid the international image that trump truly is this popular with our citizens. It’s already embarrassingly bad if we precisely describe it, no need to make us look even more unsalvageable (as a people) than we actually are.

          The American people chose him.

Gen Alpha gets a pass, sure… but for the rest of yall, as Rush famously said,

If you choose not to decide

You still have made a choice
