French agrivoltaics company Sun'Agri says that two of its facilities increased grape yields by 20% to 60% in 2024, compared to areas without solar panels. The PV modules helped regulate temperature fluctuations, reducing summer heat peaks and winter temperature declines.
Calling it “agrivoltaics” but it’s really agriculture using photovoltaics is misleading. It stands to reason that “agrivoltaic” should refer to the generation of electricity using agriculture, like growing a branch of a lemon tree while using the lemons to generate voltage
You may not like the term, but it’s what everybody else is using.
