    Was a bit disheartening to see that people in the supposedly progressive and enlightened 22nd century openly either blamed or mocked Trip for being, essentially, raped.

    Something tells me that it wouldn’t be presented as humourous if it were T’Pol or Hoshi that was unknowingly coerced into sex and ended up being impregnated.

      I’ve thought about this too, and as usual the producers have a strong hand in displaying attitudes like this, especially when they were also the main writers driving the stories on Enterprise.

      It’s funny to me that while Star Trek deals with future humans who represent the best of our species at our full potential, the reality of the production of Star Trek so perfectly reflects what humans really are right now. Ironic is the wrong word, I think, but it’s in that ballpark.

      For an in-universe explanation of T’Pol’s attitude towards Trip, this is my head canon: She was jealous that he would have given attention to a female of any species beyond his own because she wanted that female to be her. However, her understanding of these emotions would have been dismissed by her at this point in her character development.
