I wonder what the pig is up to now? In a cushy chief of police job I’m sure. I tried a quick search but only found info on the incident.

Holy shit. I read this yesterday and tried to find out and I stumbled across quite the fucking article.

Excuse the multiple pictures, it was behind a paywall and I was screenshotting it piece by piece before the pop up blocked my view lol

What an insanely asinine article. Holy. Shit.

“when you mildly inconvenience people you shouldn’t be surprised if they retaliate with chemical weapons” is peak conservative thought leadership

Yeah. To an extent I get folks defending the officier because the students did have them surrounded and were refusing to move. You can look up the full video. I believe they even say to the police they aren’t letting them leave until X happens. But you’re totally right. It was a mild inconvenience. They could’ve just waited it out or forcefully pushed their way through. Even just dragging the folks on the ground out of the way instead of pepper spraying would’ve been better.

Folks defending the use of pepper spray here remind me of folks defending the murder of Derek Shaver. It’s almost as if they’re totally indoctrinated and can’t even begin to imagine why these situations would be an overuse of force. To them it seems like if you do something wrong to s cop the cop is allowed to do anything in return which is really fucked up and frankly psychopathic in my mind.

I don’t want to be around people that think like that. Are they going to try and strangle me over a simple miscommunication? It genuinely makes me feel unsafe being around people that defend stuff like that.

“Maybe he got that pepper spray can for Christmas and was dying to use it.”

WTF?! Please tell me this is satire.

Imagine the sort of person who reads this and thinks, “I should pay for this fine journalism!”

I think he received a settlement for distress from the consequences, but I have no source.

He got $38,000 and lost his job, the protesters who were sprayed got $30,000 each, which paid for one year at UC Davis.
