Lol, depends. Do you mean farmers, miners, loggers, and other people doing important jobs that can’t be done in the city? Not at all.
Do you mean wannabe hermit fuckwastrels who live in the middle of nowhere but insist on easy access to all the convenience and safety of modern society and want to force the people living in cities to buy it for them? Then absofuckinglutely.
I guess it’s easier to imagine everyone who disagrees with mainstream thinking as Hitler when you assume they just want to kill everyone who disagrees with them the way you do.
I also want them to be the front line fighters when the inevitable wars over clean water start. Which is just a way of saying I don’t think it’s fair that everyone has to suffer the consequences of their stupid, selfish, short-sighted choice.
So yes, anything that stops them would absolutely be “way better”, but my personal preference would just be to revoke all non-CDL drivers licenses, invalidate all vehicle registrations made out to an individual instead of an organization, then review the rest to see if they are appropriate to continue or not.
But if the only way to stop the ecocidal narcissists from killing pedestrians and cyclists and degrading the environment was to lock them all up, I consider that less evil than allowing the status quo to continue.
You do realize Nestle, Coca-Cola, and AI Datacenters are a far, far bigger threat to the climate and our water supply than all the world’s drivers combined, yes?
I can’t tell if you’re so illiterate and incurious that you genuinely don’t know that for most of human history those jobs have been done by people living where the work is,not if you’re just a disingenuous fuckhead who was hoping I didn’t know that. Either way I’m pretty sure that any further conversation had with you would be boring and pointless.
And I don’t know if you’re just a moron who thinks they’re being funny, or if you really are that horrendously uneducated. Even farmers need to go to town from time to time for supplies, and perhaps to sell their produce. And towns generally aren’t where farms are, since farms, require, y’know, acreage.
As for loggers, they generally worked where they lived because of company towns, which if you’re ignorant of that charming part of human history, were very, very bad.
‘Different from what is’? I thought we were talking about
People who use cars for personal transportation are sick, and need to be institutionalized for everyone’s safety.
If that’s the difference you want, to lock up farmers, loggers, rural mail carriers, and the like, then I’d rather not imagine that, thanks.
Curious on your take on what to do with commercial truck drivers. Or do you think things like cut trees and the bulk of most farmers’ produce just magically teleports itself to where it needs to go?
Since you can’t understand the difference between “using a vehicle for work” and “personal transportation” there’s really not much hope of this conversation being remotely interesting or enlightening.
A farmer driving produce to market in a truck is in no way ethically or functionally equivalent to a wannabe hermit driving 100 miles round trip for their kids pop warner practice in the next county over where they actually have enough people to build a football field.
For the similarly illiterate and unimaginative:
Delivery vehicles - good
Work vehicles - good
Emergency vehicles - good
Licensed, insured taxis - good
Buses and other mass transit - good
Personal vehicles - bad
Communities built to be unlivable without everyone having a personal vehicle - bad
People who defend using cars for personal transportation - bad
I know that. But your original statement had no carve-outs, no caveats. You just wanted to lock up every single person with a car. It was only after you got pushback that you ‘permitted’ some people to have vehicles.
Ah, someone who hates rural people.

Yeah that’s a real privileged stance you have and you’re not a good person for having it.
As an environmental advocate, I beg you, please keep your opinions to yourself, you’re making it harder for change.
You can advocate for the environment or the status quo. Pick one.
But the fact that you even felt the need to say this means you already have, and you picked wrong.
You blame people for being in a system they did not choose and would have them slain rather than build a new system. How old testament.
Never said that, but it’s a cute straw man.
I guess it’s easier to imagine everyone who disagrees with mainstream thinking as Hitler when you assume they just want to kill everyone who disagrees with them the way you do.
Oh sorry, you just want to have them institutionalized for the rest of their life for driving a car. Yeah. That’s way better. My b.
I also want them to be the front line fighters when the inevitable wars over clean water start. Which is just a way of saying I don’t think it’s fair that everyone has to suffer the consequences of their stupid, selfish, short-sighted choice.

So you’d condemn people to starve to death for your ideals. Either you haven’t thought them through or you’re a sociopath.
Still need cars to get to and from work, and in the case of farmers, their rural homes, dipshit.

And thanks for proving there’s no point in even discussing what’s possible with you since you can’t imagine anything different from what is.

Kindly go soak your head.
Hi. Have you considered that many people literally got priced out of cities? No, of course you haven’t.
