minus-squareconciselyverboselinkfedilink3•1 year agoNope. Anything you pay (except one year veteran minimum deals that get an exception to be counted at a slightly lower number) hits the cap. You can manipulate timing with contract structure, but there is no way to pay a player without it counting to the salary cap
minus-squareTrebachlinkfedilink2•1 year agoThere is always the Don Muhlbach option. Rodgers retires, it lowers the cap hit to just this year for a prorated amount, they get to re-sign him as a coach/assistant, and they might get a compensatory pick out of it.
