New York City has a population of nearly nine million, but it’s debatable whether any among that number would be willing to defend Zach Wilson or the team’s hierarchy. On Monday Joe Namath, the only quarterback to win a Super Bowl with the team, became the latest person to go on the attack after the Jets announced they are sticking with Wilson, who was once the future of the franchise but is now the most popular target of frustrated fans. “I wouldn’t keep him,” said Namath during an interview on The Michael Kay Show on 98.7 ESPN New York.
Wasn’t there a rumor that Matt Ryan had reached out about playing for them? And Carson Wentz?
I realize neither of those guys looked great last time they were on the field but it sure feels like they’d be better than what is going on right now. Wilson looks like Tweety bird against the monstars every time he’s out there.
Matt Ryan I think is just too far past his prime. I’d actually bring in Wentz to at least try. But that’s assuming he’d take a smaller contract, his pride seems to be a problem.
You could definitely be right on Ryan. I think I’d still be bringing him in for a workout though. Like, try anything to salvage the season. You have one guy you know ain’t it. Every additional game they play with him is another wasted week during the year they went all in. Future years will be harder financially so it seems like it’d be logical to do anything possible to win now.
