We’ve upgraded lemmy.world to 0.18.1-rc.1 and rolled back that upgrade because of issues.

(If you had posted anything in those 10 minutes between upgrade and rollback, that post is gone. Sorry!)

The main issue we saw is that users can’t login anymore. Existing sessions still worked, but new logins failed (from macos, ios and android. From linux and windows it worked)

Also new account creation didn’t work.

I’ll create an issue for the devs and retry once it’s fixed.

Edit Contacted the devs, they tell me to try again with lemmy-ui at version 0.18.0. Will try again, brace for some downtime!

Edit 2 So we upgraded again, and it seemed to work nicely! But then it slowed down so much it was unuseable. There were many locks in the database. People reported many JSON errors. Sorry, we won’t be on 0.18.1 any time soon I’m afraid…

You are probably on Jerboa. Either downgrade or use the web UI interim.

Or use any of the other apps

As others have mentioned, Liftoff and Thunder are working without issue. Liftoff should be available in the Play Store, not sure about the app store though.

Connect seems to be working fine for me. You can get it from the google play store if you don’t want to have to fiddle with trying to do some fancy install stuff.

I had issues with Jerboa and some others. Connect for Lemmy worked fine and it’s being updated daily, it seems. Everytime i open it, it’s more polished and has new features.

I’m also just a few days in and learning as i go.

There’s a few of them. Connect, liftoff, summit, jerboa, lemmur, and mlem (iOS) seem to be the front runners so far. Apparently the person who made sync for reddit is working on one for lemmy which seems very promising since a ton of people really liked sync but it’s not out yet.

You can also kinda use the website as an app if you want but that’s not exactly what you were asking.

Lemmur is actually discontinued and has been forked to become Liftoff

Sorry, I’m so dumb… is there a place I can learn how to use Lemmy better? I don’t know how to downgrade 🥲

      Thank you for your help.

No problem. Most lemmy instances currently experience some growing pains due to sudden influx of new users. Meanwhile we have to be patient and use e.g. https://lemmy.world instead of the mobile app you are using. Or try a different app, I personally am looking forward to Slide for Lemmy.

          Oh nice! Thank you!

I am currently on the website over app atm. And I completely understand the growing pains. I’m here for it all, I will wait patiently 😌
