And the Israelis just love bombing civilians. It is part of their plans for genocide.

I am somewhat hopeful we’ll get war crime trials for Israelis at some point.

If the Israelis wanted all Palestinians dead, they will need to dramatically speed up the pace of bombing civilians. Around 55,000 people are born in Gaza every year right now. The reason why 10,000 kids have died in this so far is that about 50% of the civilian population is under 18. Hamas recruits at 16 years of age officially, and sometimes earlier unofficially.

If Israel loved bombing civilians so much, why did they wait to get attacked before the started dropping so many bombs again?

You’re delusional if you think this has anything to do with what they “love” doing. Almost a thousand Israeli civilians were massacred, they want to stamp out Hamas in retaliation and they’re not going to let Hamas get away simply because they’re hiding behind human shields.

It’s the long-term plan to remove Palestinians from all the territories there. It has been about 70 years and they have already taken a majority of it. At this rate, with the accelerated stealing of the land and destruction of infrastructure, maybe in about 50 years or so, the Palestinians will have been eliminated and Israel can have all the land

The borders of the Gaza strip have not changed since the Oslo accord of 1949, all Jewish settlers in that area were forcibly removed by Israel in 2005, and there has been no permanent Israeli presence in that territory since.

Gaza is not fighting for the west bank, they are not fighting for an invasion of their land by settlers… No Hamas is fighting because they’re being paid to do so by Iran.

The west bank is a different issue entirely. Israel is absolutely invading there. It just doesn’t have anything to do with Gaza at this point. They aren’t run by the same government.

Okay, so apparently Hamas is fighting for the liberation of the thousands and thousands of people who have been detained without any charges and held at the whim of the IDF. Many of those are children, which is another aspect of this genocide.

You seem to have a more nuanced view, thank you. What parts of the apartheid system should be given highest priority in terms of dismantlement?

Just because you have some notion of what defines a child does not mean the rest of the world abides by that. Hamas will recruit kids as young as 14. Even in the US if someone under 18 commits a heinous crime, they are often tried as adults.

I believe I’m following the UN definition of genocide here. And yes, a country should put offending children through the legal processes to rehabilitate them. An invading army should not round up thousands and thousands of minors and keep them detained outside of any legal framework (and no, the whims of the invading military force is not a legal framework). Human rights organizations have been calling out Israel for years. This genocide has to stop.

First, children includes Hamas fighters who officially recruit at 16 and unofficially recruit younger. More than 50% of the gaza population is younger than 18 simply due to the birth rates for the last twenty years. Gaza’s birthrate is absolutely massive, families of 5+ kids are extremely common since that’s the average fertility right now.

The rate of children being killed is actually lower than the overall population at the moment, Israel is obviously doing something to reduce indescriminate killing.

The first thing that needs to happen for this to be fixed is that Iran needs to stop funding Hamas. While Israel does absolutely detain people, they’re suspected of being terrorists. Most countries do this, it just so happens thay Israel has a lot more of them because there’s a massive organization being against them. This fight from Hamas isn’t about freeing the fighters, and everyone in politics knows it. Hamas started attacking Israel before these captures occurred, just after they took power themselves in a bloody internal fight.

From Israels perspective, realistically, they need to stop the tunnels and smuggling networks from operating. Iran is never going to stop, it’s by far their best way to indirectly attack Israel without having to risk their own citizens.

So, basically your view is that

*Israel is doing a decent job because they aren’t killing that many children relative to the overall population. Also, UN laws don’t really apply to this situation.

*The main reason for the unrest is Iran paying money. The Palestinians don’t really have any solid basis for their grievances.

*Israel’s only failing is that they aren’t successful enough militarily in stopping the funding and tunnels. Otherwise Israel is not doing anything else wrong.

Does that sum up your view correctly?
