Obviously depends on speed, but just yesterday I had to have a talk with my dad. He’s lived in Montana for about 60 years and was telling me he felt safe driving on the highway in snow at -30 because he was in 4WD.
I do not know how our family has survived. My mother cannot turn her head when driving. Changing lanes was interesting.
“chains required except 4wd”
4wd driver: “I can ice skate on worn all season tires because 4wd”
Also 4wd driver: “Halp ice is slippery and 4wd is not enough”
As my one co-worker always says - everyone has 4-wheel brakes.
4WD/AWD doesn’t mean shit if you have to stop on a slick surface.
