California's unemployment rate is now the highest in the country. The state's unemployment rate was 5.3% in February. That's higher than Nevada's 5.2% rate.
Many of the jobs (and people) have been moving to FL and TX. Both places that picked up house seats in the last census, with places like CA losing seats. The prices and tax burden is much more palatable to individuals and businesses.

If you live here and you think life for you would be so much better in FL or TX that you can’t help but bellyache about it - then stop bellyaching. Far from being unwelcoming, I’m being encouraging. If this place is not for you because you believe other places are so much better then go, go to those better places.
They are referring to the people who identify by hating most of the other people in the state. You can’t worry about them, they will be angry no matter where they live.

But then people end up in FL or TX which is its own punishment.
According to some exit polls, the people that are moving to TX are right wing probably looking to go somewhere that’s conservative.
I haven’t seen anything about this more recently.
