This doesn’t surprise me. A lot of tech companies that are located in California just had massive layoffs in 2024, which I would think is a significant contributor. Tiktok, Google, Amazon, Riot Games just to name a few.

But then people end up in FL or TX which is its own punishment.

I love how all the people who talk about moving to FL or TX think we care. If you hate it here so much, fucking go and stop talking about it.

Why would I welcome people who already live here?

If you think CA is for you, regardless of your political stripe, and you’re willing to come here and work, talk through differences and compromise to live together well? You are more than welcome.

If you live here and you think life for you would be so much better in FL or TX that you can’t help but bellyache about it - then stop bellyaching. Far from being unwelcoming, I’m being encouraging. If this place is not for you because you believe other places are so much better then go, go to those better places.

            Do you understand now?

They are referring to the people who identify by hating most of the other people in the state. You can’t worry about them, they will be angry no matter where they live.

The largest decrease was in construction, with 9,600 jobs lost

Rents aren’t coming down in CA. Gotta fix shit like that first.
