this is not nearly as bad as the ones that got him suspended. y’all are just looking to be outraged, give him a flagrant and move on with your lives.

It’s a play that endangers another athlete on the court and it isn’t even a play on the ball. I think it’s unfair to other players who have to play against him. I’m also interested to see how the league responds. He had an indefinite suspension that worked out to 16 games for a history of actions like this and came back in January of this season. The league doesn’t want to suspend him because they’re concerned they might make less money if they do so, but they also need to maintain some image as a legitimate authority in this matter. Gotta keep GSW in the play-in too ;)

The only viable path I can see is to continuously hit him with suspensions so his team/coach have to call him out. Draymond himself won’t care about the suspension or negative image, but he probably still wants to be paid.

which is a flagrant foul, as i said. i’m not saying it’s nothing, i’m saying it’s not as bad as ball kicking, chest stomping, and backhands to the face.

I don’t know where you got the outraged part from my comment - I think we can make observations without such strong emotions?, especially when they don’t affect you personally.

because you’re equating this with ball kicking, chest stomping, and backhands to the face. this is not even close to as bad as those things.

I never really equated anything. I was more referring to the fact that he has so many incidents now, regardless of however they are “graded” on severity by anyone.

Also, I just read your comment and had another look at the video again, and to me, whatever the lead up to the incident (with them being tangled/fighting for position) it looks to me that he makes a conscious effort to hook the neck, or at least prevent it from happening.

Plus it’s to the neck/head area. Sports around the world are really clamping down on that kind of stuff, leading to players having to consciously avoid any such contact even if accidental.

Please, please, please. Why don’t you start by watching the video again?

It’s not a case of ‘Draymond’s arm just happened to get stuck as he moved through a smaller player.’ No dude, it’s a case of him absolutely grabbing the other player around the top of his chest, then wrapping his hand around Mills’ neck, pulling him down backwards in a completely unsafe way.

There’s also the fact that Draymond’s so much bigger and stronger than Mills that he had easily enough leverage and strength to do all that with a lot less force & intention than it would have taken for say… someone like Nikola Jokic.

It was a horrible-looking series of actions, and I hope I never see it again.

When the league reviews this, if they don’t handle this the right way, then all their talk about Draymond needing to change is just so much hot air.

i saw the video thank you very much. now i ask that you recall the things that have gotten him suspended in the past: ball kicking, chest stomping, and backhands to the face. this is not even close to as bad as those things.

No, a big strong guy grabbing a much smaller guy by the neck and pulling him backwards until he loses his balance is arguably the most dangerous of all of Draymond’s reckless acts.

Mills could easily have gotten a neck injury and/or a concussion if he didn’t sprawl to avoid the floor. And if he’d fallen completely on his back, for a few moments there he had no way to protect himself from being trampled by another player.

The difference with Draymond’s other stuff is that those were attacks on another player’s body region that didn’t impact the player’s ability to protect themselves. Somebody getting smacked in the face or getting kicked in the cup didn’t throw them backwards on the floor in the midst of other players running around. Stomping on another player’s chest on the ground was really bad, tho.

You can have the last reply, but all I can feel is disgust. Bye.

Yup i agree. Hes fighting through contact. Arm gets stuck. He removes it. Draymond rightfully has a reputation, but this isnt dirty. The nba in general needs to let stuff like this go and allow physical play from both offense and d.

I agree that Draymond’s arm got stuck, but I don’t see him making any effort to remove his arm before plowing through.

To me, it looked like Dray was pushing Mills out of the way and ended up with his arm hooked around Mills’ neck. A kind and gentle person, seeing that they were about to smack someone in the throat, would stop and get their arm off the windpipe of their fellow human. A person who was super competitive and trying hard to win would, at least, make an effort to move their arm back and down while running past. In this video, we see the third option: a stiff arm clothesline across the neck.

if his arm got “stuck,” then he would have extended his arm to get around Mills. Instead he flexes his arm, and pulls Mills into a backbend, stressing his spine. He then does that sidestep shamble move, trying to indicate to the ref that he wasn’t in control of his movements because “look! he’s stumbling a bit too!”

Nah, this is classic bitch ass dray. just toss him from the league already.

Sure bro. Pretty clear that you’re viewing it with a bias off the rip. Looks pretty benign to me. Hell ive seen something similar happen in a game i played in before. I genuinely wonder if u would say the same shit if it happened to someone else.
