A member of the Proud Boys extremist group who went on the run after he was convicted in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack at the U.S. Capitol and then allegedly faked a drug overdose after he was caught was sentenced Thursday to 10 years in prison.
Christopher Worrell, who was convicted of assaulting police with pepper spray, was on house arrest in Naples, Florida, when he disappeared in August, ahead of his original sentencing date.
He was found six weeks later after he tried to “covertly return” to his home, prosecutors said. He seemed to be unconscious and was hospitalized for five days to treat an apparent opioid drug overdose, but prosecutors say he faked his condition to further stall his sentencing.
Lol, what a loser
I attacked the capital and all I got was this stupid conviction
He probably regrets nothing except getting caught
No additional time for running away is that normal?
No, the judge gave him way less than the recommended minimum. Like, seven years less.
HW Bush judge, iirc.
Note to self if I ever commit a crime wear a maga hat to court.
Maybe he ran out of time.

Okay seriously how do you fake an overdose for 5 days in a hospital? They can do a tox screen and see if there is anything in your system.
"Worrell suffers from a rare form of lymphoma and said he was afraid the cancer treatment he’d get during a long prison sentence could allow the disease to kill him. He said he did take a number of pills just before he was recaptured and had opioids in his system.
“I acted out of severe mental anguish and very genuine fear for my life,” he said. “I am truly sorry and I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me.”"
Had opioids in his system, suffers from an actual other medical condition, also probably a psych eval. That could easily take five days.
That is what I get for just reading the headline. I just can’t read about these winey idiots anymore. That sounds like he was 72 hour hold. Once on a 72 hour hold it doesn’t matter what happens you are staying the whole 72 hours.
My guess (and I am no doctor) is that they were such a heavy user that they could do what would be a lethal dose but had a high tolerance allowing them to fake the OD while every test would show their system packed.

Lolololol. So glad to see at least some of these people get some time for what they tried to do to this country.
